What do all of these icons mean?
We tried to make the interface for TripLittle.com a little more sleek and streamlined by using informative icons for most actions. We understand that not all of these icons will be the easiest to understand, and that's why all icons that "do something" (that is, you can click on them) will have extra information for you when you put your mouse cursor over them.
For example, if you saw an icon like this:
you could hover your mouse over it to see what will happen if you were to click on it (of course, the icon here is just for demonstration, it won't do anything if you click it). How do I get started?
We're glad you asked! You can get started very easily by creating your first trip - just click on New Trip in the top right corner above. This will be on every page, so no matter where you are on TripLittle.com you can start a new Trip.
You don't have to be registered or logged in or anything to start, just go ahead and enter the information about your trip and start planning it out. We'll save all your stuff as you go, but remember that we can't save your information if you leave the site unless you register for a user account.
Registering for an account will let you save your trip information between visits to our site (you can even save multiple trips). You will also get access to a few other features that can't be access without an account, like being able to share your trip with friends, family, or coworkers! As soon as you register, you will be automatically logged in and you can begin using all of TripLittle.com. You will also receive an email confirming your registration.

How do I log in?
We won't ask you to log in until you have to, but you can do so at any time by clicking on the My Trips icon above, or the "Settings" link below (or by going to the Log In page directly). If you are working on a trip - and you are not already logged in - you will see an icon to save your trip by logging in (which will look like this: ).
Once you land on the Log In page, simply enter your email address and password. and hit enter or click on the "Log In" button. If you have forgotten your password, simply click on the link on the Log In page that says: "Did you forget your password?".
If you need to register for a new account you can do so on the log in page, just be sure to check the box next to "Register my new account!"

I forgot my password, what do I do?
If you have forgotten your password you will need to reset it. From the Log In page, click on the "Did you forget your password?" link. You will need to type in your email address (the one you use to log into TripLittle.com) and click on the button. This will reset your password to a random set of letters and numbers.
After resetting your password you will receive an email with your new, temporary password. Use this new password to log in, and then immediately change your password to something you can remember on the "Settings" page.
If you do not have access to your email address you will need to contact us.

My account is locked, how do I unlock it?
User accounts can be locked for a variety of reasons, the most common of which is that you tried to log in too many times with the incorrect password. When your account is locked you cannot log in to TripLittle.com at all.
Only an administrator can unlock your account. You will need to send us an email from the email address on your account requesting it to be unlocked.
If your account is locked for a reason other than incorrect log in attempts you may be asked to explain the circumstances surrounding the lock.

How do I register for a user account?
You can actually use most of TripLittle.com without registering for a user account, but you may see a note that indicates that some features are not available without registering.
In order to register for an account, go to the Log In page and enter your email address and desired password. You must also check the box that says "Register my new account!"
As soon as you register, you will be automatically logged in and you can begin using all of TripLittle.com. You will also receive an email confirming your registration.

How do I save my Trip information?
All of your information is saved while you are working on your trip, but unless you are logged in, your Trip information will NOT be saved once you leave the TripLittle.com web site (or your session expires ).
Most Trip information is automatically saved whenever you make a change, so there may be no need to click on a "Save" button. On some pages you will see a small notice that indicates that your work has been saved (for example: Saved!). There are some places where you will need to click on an "Add" or "Update" button in a dialog box. In these cases, clicking on the button will save your information.
Note that unless you are logged in, your Trip information will NOT be saved once you leave the TripLittle.com web site (or your session expires ). Your information is saved while you are working on it, but it won't be there the next time you visit TripLittle.com unless you log in with a valid user account. (As soon as you log in, your trip information is saved permanently and you can leave the web site without losing any information.)

How do I create a new Trip?
You can create a new Trip by clicking on the New Trip icon above. This will be on every page, so no matter where you are on TripLittle.com you can start a new Trip.
You do not need to be logged in to create a Trip, but you cannot save a Trip without being logged in.

Thanks for asking! Our Terms of Use are fair and are intended to cover misuse of the site. We are not trying to steal your data or claim it as our own. In fact, we also have a separate Privacy Policy which describes a little about how we protect your data.

I received an error that said I should contact you, what do I do?
Wow, sorry about that. We hope to minimize those errors, but sometimes they slip through. Please send us an email if you can and let us know what page you were on, and what you were doing when you received the error.
It would also be helpful if you could send us what Operating System (Windows, Mac, Linux) and browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.) you are using. If you're not sure how to get this information, try visiting this site. It will print out all of the information we need. Once you get there, you can export the details as a CSV or PDF file, or just copy and paste them into your email.

How do I view Trips I've already created?
If you have created a Trip - and you were logged in so that it could be saved - then you will find it on the My Trips page. There you will see any Trips you have created, and any that have been shared with you by other people.
From the My Trips page you can view the Trip's Budget , the Itinerary , its Packing List , or delete the Trip .

I received an email that someone shared a Trip with me, what's that mean?
When a user creates a Trip they can then share that Trip with other people, in this case you! The email you received was simply informing you that a Trip was shared with you. If you did not already have an account with us, we created one for you - that's the only way you can access the shared Trip.
You can access this shared Trip by going to the My Trips page. You will need to log in by using the information in the email you received.
In the email you received you should be able to see the email address of the person who shared the Trip with you. You can contact them if you're not sure why they shared this information with you.
If you believe that you received an email from us in error, please contact us and we will investigate the issue.

How do I share a Trip with someone else?
Once you have saved a new Trip, you can share it with other people. While viewing the Trip, click on the sharing icon () near the top on the right side. This will open a dialog box for you to add or remove email addresses that this Trip is shared with. To enter a new shared user, simply enter their email address in the text box, then click on the add icon next to the box ().
Removing a user that the trip is shared with is just as easy, click on the sharing icon () while viewing the trip, then click on the red icon () next to their email address.
Note that only the owner of the Trip (the original creator) can view, add, or remove other users! Also, you must be logged in to share a Trip (or view shared Trips).

What are the technical requirements for TripLittle.com
All you need to use Trip Little is a web browser and an Internet connection. However, your browser does need to support JavaScript and have it turned on (this is the default for most browsers). We strive to make sure TripLittle.com operates as expected in as many browsers as possible, but we officially only support the following web browsers and versions:

How do I change my password or email address?
Any time you need to change your password or email address, just visit the "Settings" page by clicking on the link at the bottom of every page. When changing your password, simply enter the new password, click on the button, and then confirm your old password.
Note that if you change your email address, you will need to log in with the new address thereafter!

Why did I receive an email that a trip was updated?
When you share a trip with another user (or when they share one with you) we let everyone know when a change was made so that you stay up-to-date. You will only receive this email if the trip has been updated by someone else since you last logged in.
If you do not want to receive these emails, you can visit the "Settings" page (by clicking on the link at the bottom of every page) and uncheck the checkbox next to "Notify me when any of my trips change."

What is TripLittle?
Great question!
TripLittle.com is the easiest way to plan and organize your travel plans and information. We've created a series of tools to help you create a budget, plot out an itinerary, plan your packing list, and share all of this information with anyone you need to. Hopefully your next trip is an enjoyable one, and we hope to make planning that trip easy and fun as well.

Why doesn't the web site look right in my browser?
Uh oh, sorry about that!
We really try to make sure that things look and behave correctly in as many browsers as possible, unfortunately we can't make everything look perfect in every browser, there's just too many of them! If things look strange in the browser you love to use, then please let us know , but please understand that the answer may be that you need to upgrade you browser to the latest version.

How do I save a packing list for later?
You can save a packing list for use on another trip by clicking on the "save list" icon () on the Packing List page. You will be asked to name the list and that's it!
When you want to use that list on another trip, just go to the new trip's Packing List page and click on the "use saved trip" icon (). This will add all of the items from your saved list to your new trip!
You can manage all of your saved lists on the List Management page (which is linked off of your general Settings page).

How do I update or delete a saved packing list?
You can manage all of your saved lists on the List Management page (which is linked off of your general Settings page). Simply go there and you will see a list of all of your saved lists. Click on the delete icon () next to a list's name to delete it, or click on the name itself to view and edit the list name and all of its items. This editing works just like the regular Packing List page.
